I would leave zero stars, but the one can go for friendly staff. Pizza seriously tastes like frozen tombstone pizza... No wait, tombstone tastes better. Zero flavor. And way overpriced. I guess they feel like they don't have to try too hard since they sell pizza. Cookies are okay. Nothing magical. I will not come back.

Knowing touristy places are always more expensive, my husband and I were joking about sharing a $5 cookie and wondering what the offerings would be. Having been to many places that cater to tourists, we expected higher prices..but we really weren't expecting the reality of the Cookie Cabin. (Foolishly, we didn't take time to read Yelp reviews first.) Well, the joke was on us! The cookie wasn't $5..which we agreed would be a rediculous price, but hey...day trip..only cookie on the hill..that sort of reasoning..we could handle. No..this week the cookies are $6.50, unless you get the 'sampler' for $7.50. Now I have been known to purchase expensive cookies before, even giant ones, but I'm pretty sure I never paid that much for one cookie..one that, I have to confess, I was complaining about the entire time I was stuffing it in my mouth :/ (In my defense, I was very hungry!) FYI, my complaining wasn't about the cost..which is totally stupid since I know how much cookies cost to make. No, it was about the totally horrible flavor of that mountain masterpiece. It looked good, smelled ok, but truly, no flavor. Ugh! Probably only the second cookie I've ever gagged on. Tasted like they use cheap shortening, instead of butter, or something with flavor. I could supply a dozen excellent cookie recipes, if they want them! As for the staff...the young lady sweeping up was very friendly and offered to help the girl at the register, if she was too busy. She didn't look busy to us. She, too, was reasonably friendly until we paid. We left no tip on that $6.50 gack cookie, since all she did was slide it onto a paperplate and ring it up. When she realized there was no tip, her attitude became quite frosty. In summary, 50/50 regarding decent service, but we would neverrrrr buy their cookies again. Life is way too short to waste it on bad cookies.

NEGATING the gains from our hike with a COOKIE AS BIG AS A DISPOSABLE PAPER PLATE? oops... we couldn't resist since it was located just at the bottom of the Mint Spring trail we completed cookies were soft with a bit of chew & just enough of a buttery crust --Sampler cookie: the sampler is $7.50 but perfect for sharing since it's large and you get to try the Rachel (oats, coconuts, and butterscotch chips), oatmeal raisin, pumpkin walnut, chocolate chip, peanut butter, AND brownie cookie with white chocolate chips i wish we ordered the cookies with ice cream but we were heading to lunch afterwards NOTE: Lots of seating outside, a few big tables inside, PLUS they sell pizza

I know some people said they got bad vibes. Not the case for me, the girl at the cash register was very friendly and patient. We got the cookie sampler, not really that expensive for how huge the cookie is and it is HUGE. The whole area smelled the cookies!

We always stop at the Cookie Cabin after long hikes on Mt. Lemmon. It's something to look forward to after breathtaking views and calorie-incinerating treks on Butterfly Trail or Marshall Gulch. I usually order a pizza and a chocolate chip cookie with ice cream for dessert. The pizza is just okay, but it's not called the Mt. Lemmon Pizza Cabin. The cookies are chewy and delicious, and topped with a few scoops of vanilla ice cream, they are a sweet tooth's dream. Bring a friend (or two), there's plenty to share! One of my favorite things about the Cookie Cabin is that pets are welcome. We sit outside with our pup while we get down on post-hike grub. The nice thing about being that far up the mountain is that the weather is almost always perfect for it, especially during the summer. If you're ever in Summerhaven it's definitely worth checking out.

What's not to love about cookies and pizza? I was recently up the mountain escaping Tucson's summer heat, when we decided to take a run up to Summerhaven. My fellow camper had been here before, but it was my first time. I ordered a brownie cookie and it was delicious. Chocolate cookie with white chocolate chips hits the spot every time. The wait was fairly long, and the line was out the door, but it was the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend so understandable. Before the b/f and I came back down the hill, we went up again on Monday and weren't disappointed! This time we tried the pizza and a regular ol chocolate chip cookie. The pizza was wonderful. Lots of gooey cheese and a light amount of tomato sauce, just like I like! Giant slices of pepperoni, a generous heaping of sausage and nice, fat slices of green peppers topped it all off. We ordered the medium size and we were able to bring half of it home. If you're camping on Mt. Lemmon or heading up to Summerhaven, I highly recommend it!

This little place is wonderful and they always do a great job on the Pizza and other foods they serve...therefore they deserve full credit. The owner greets and talks with customers, which is very rare these days, so I appreciate that. I don't think they should have less than five stars since this small establishment does it's best to keep customers happy. The food is awesome of course, and I have been there many times. I don't feel that five stars is going over the top when a place works so hard to do their best for the public.

I'm probably overly generous with my rating for the Cookie Cabin, but after riding your bicycle from Ventana Canyon to the top of Mount Lemmon, the cookies at this place taste like the best thing in the entire world. Also, the service is incredibly friendly. Three of us shared a cookie the size of our heads here as well as some nice warm drinks, it gets cold up there! The cookie was delicious and hot straight out of the oven. What a great experience. Can't wait to come back.

Let me say first, I am currently eating one of their chocolate chip cookies that we got this morning and it's STILL soft, chewy, and amazing. Now.. I do not understand these low star reviews. You people must be extremely impatient, impolite, and picky. I have been up to Mt. Lemmon and their cookie cabin hundreds of times in the many years I've lived here and the only horrors I've witnessed are long lines and above mentioned people. But never have I received terrible or rude service and have never gotten the feeling that we were unwelcome. I have been on extremely busy Sundays and during the mid-week when no one comes up. They have taken down all these "terrible" signs I've read of, I've never actually seen them, but they are no longer there. They only have 3 that I saw, which were completely understandable. One, no running or yelling. Understandable because this is a restaurant, not a playground. Plus who wants to hear children screaming/yelling in a serene, peaceful environment? No running? Duh. Who wants a booboo? Not me. Two, no rowdy dogs. Same deal, no one wants a dog constantly barking and causing ruckus in this beautiful, peaceful environment. Three, no climbing on the paved rocks that now surround their NEWLY built seating area to accommodate more people. Seems welcoming to me, also it seems the new seating is for dog owners as it's gravel ground so it would be easier to pick up "accidents". These do not seem unwelcoming at all people. Common sense here. Now don't get me wrong, I am all for children and pets. I'm an extreme lover and care giver for both, but there is nothing wrong with a well behaved child or dog. Like I stated, it is a restaurant and a business. Not a playground or a dog park. As stated earlier, they've completely re-done their outdoor seating. They've expanded it and have added umbrellas to every table which was a very cute and welcoming add on. Now on to the food, bear with me people. My husband and I always get a pizza with sausage, onion, and green peppers. It's cooked perfectly each time and I have loved their pizza forever. We have never received a bad pizza and I'm not being a generous reviewer! We all have our different pizza styles and I've always loved this one. I haven't had any other food going here so I can't comment on those but the chili has always enticed me. Their cookies now, I have received a few cookies that have let me down but most of the time I'm sitting in heaven with chewy, gooey, warm cookie. My favorites are the choco chip and the brownie. As for beverages, we always get the Arnold Palmer which is a lemonade/iced tea combo of amazingness. We have had hot choco before but it's just the packet stuff and not worth it. They have an array of beverages for all the likings. Well people, this concludes my review. Y'all really need to take in what Mt. Lemmon is. To me, it's a sanctuary high above the noise and confusion. I miss my Texas forests and this is as close as I can get; makes me feel right at home.

Cutest little place! I love pizza and chocolate, so this place was perfect for me. Not much searing available on busy days it seems a bit tight, but besides that, perfectly relaxing place to grab a bite to eat!

You don't come to Mt. Lemmon for the food, you come for the weather, the hiking, the beauty. But hey, once you're up here - you gotta eat. So we came here for the pizza, not the cookie. Hell if I'm gonna spend that much on a cookie. The prices here are inflated, but I'll give them a pass since this whole area burned down a few years ago, I'm sure all they are trying to do is make a few bucks back. We got the regular ole' cheese pizza and it was great. Yes, I thought great. Not the best pizza I've had, but definitely above what I was expecting. Nothing better than a nice piece of pizza on a cold wintery afternoon. The service was friendly and the cookie cabin is in a great location. If you're gonna come up here, go for a hike and then bring a rumbling stomach to the cookie cabin.

Ugh. Called the Cookie Cabin and at $5 a piece, they should taste good. Nooooo... Bought an oatmeal raisin cookie...blah. It tasted like it didn't have enough salt. But worse, it tasted like it was made at least 2 days prior as it was very dried out and stale. A friend had a pumpkin cookie that was even worse. I guess they may taste better if they were fresh but I doubt it. And what is with all the rude signs around about noisy children, smoking, etc? I neither smoke nor have children but they seemed kind of rude. Hard to tell if it was an attempt at a joke or they really want to broadcast their attitudes. Staff was very friendly and helpful...other than failing to warn me not to buy their crappy $5 cookies.

Definitely not worth the drive from anywhere. The pizza is above average, not the best in Tucson by any means. But, hey you are on top of a mountain where it is 20 degrees cooler than the heat of Tucson. The cookies are almost comically big, but they are good. Everything is slightly over priced, but that I understand, it's a tourist spot and they have to make hay while the sun shines. If you are looking for an escape and a decent place to grab a bite I would stop on in. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there, but I would go out of my way to Mount Lemmon. Also, they seemed kid friendly to me.

Nasty, the pizza was horrible, we ordered the pepperoni pizza. I could have microwaved a better pizza. It even smelled odd, it was bland and gross. Decided to try the cookie since it looked delicious, it was okay nothing great either just cookie dough you buy from the store. Ended up sick after eating here. I will not be returning.

Pizza was gross. Sauce had no flavor and cheese was fake. Cardboard crust. They could have a gold mine if they made the doh and sauce homemade with better cheese and toppings. Not sure about cookie.

Gross pizza, great cookies. Pizza tastes worse than any frozen pizza from the supermarket. Really bad. The cookies are good but the brownie one was dry. Chocolate chip one was gooey and good. Save your money on the really overpriced pizza.

  • Monica F.

Really mediocre cookies, which they warm up so that you can't stop eating them. Cookies are the size of a plate, big enough for 4 people at least. Like everything else on Mt. Lemmon, they are expensive for what they are: OK, but not as good as what you'd make at home from scratch. I'm sure if you are under the age of 12 they are probably the best thing ever. But these are not gourmet cookies, and you will pay almost as much for a glass of milk here as you would for a gallon of milk in Tucson. My favorite part of the cookie cabin experience is the deadly serious but hilariously threatening signage in the garden, which prohibits screaming, running, barking, being a hyperactive dog, moving the tables, bringing in outside food, and, my favorite, treating the garden like a library (i.e. no reading, texting, computer use). I should note that I witnessed most of these prohibited activities during my Cookie Cabin experience. I bet the owners are a ton of fun at parties.

Okay, granted the cookies are pretty good. But $28 for a large pizza that was way below average, that is lame.

The anti-child, anti-dog, anti-leisure (no book reading, no laptops, etc.) admonishments on the signs that seemed to have been applied to every available surface generated what can best be described as: A BAD VIBE. The chili was good, the cookie was ok. The place was clean and the rustic style was cute.

This review is only for the giant cookies. I've had the oatmeal: it was too much sweetness I felt sick. And the brownie cookie: it was heaven. So crusty on the crust and the soft chewy inside. It ate half of it on the car ride down the mountain. That's a LOT of cookie to eat within 20 min. Maybe it's a preference for chocolate but I thought the brownie cookie was exactly what it sounds like. A brownie that was made into a cookie!

I took my daughter and dog up for some hiking. We stopped in for some pizza and cookie and ice cream after. The cookie was good with ice cream on top! They pull them fresh out of the warmer and scoop it on. It was prepackaged cookie dough. No mamas cooking here. The pizza oh the pizza... I honestly debated the amount of stars given. This "pizza" would make someone have wet dreams over crapy little cesars pizza... It was so bad my 5 year old, who is under the impression pizza is a food group wouldn't eat it... My hungry dog spit it out... I have never seen that fatty spit anything out! At 5.50 for a slice of burnt cardboard covered in oil and salt. What a deal! Cut cabin theme, lots of out door seating.

Nope, still awesome! Maybe I'm just lucky. Every time we come up here, the staff (mostly kids) are funny and super helpful, the pizza is very good (having found Rocco's in Tucson I am willing to concede it may not rival a deep dish Kitchen Sink, you need to keep this place in the context it was meant to be enjoyed in - but "so bad we spit it out"? Not even remotely close in our experience!). Is it possible I come only on days when they are on their A game? I guess. But it's not likely. I love it for what it is. A cute "mom and pops" type place serving simple but good food in a gorgeous location. It's not trying to be gimmicky or gourmet. Mad love for the cookie cabin.

Came up here for the famous "cookie w/ ice cream" and I'm sad to say it was a disappointment. The cookie was not warm whatsoever and it was quite pricey to be honest. Probably won't bother ordering that again next time I visit...

This cute little place was the perfect stop following our beautiful drive up Mt. Lemmon. The chocolate chip cookie was so soft and delicious and I had the perfect cup of coffee. I wish we would have tried more food, everything being brought out looked great just couldn't justify the prices so -1 star.

Enormous cookies to satisfy cold people and empty bellies. Some cookie flavored sell out fast. Had the standard chocolate chip and some chili on a cold day. It hit the spot. The pizza also seems popular.

Extremely dog friendly.... Give us water for our 2 Danes. Patio is nice. Lots of tables and have umbrella's at each table. Pizza was so fresh. Hubby loves their fresh baked large cookies. I think it is the only dog friendly place in town.

Okay okayyy, I know this place is called the Cookie Cabin, but I'm gonna talk about their pizza. It is SO GOOD! The very first time my bf and I went to Mt. Lemmon we ate here and got a pizza (pepperoni, sausage & olive)... and every trip back to Mt. Lemmon means a stop here for some pizza. I honestly didn't expect such a superb pie the first time we came but that's what we got and the flavor has been consistent every trip back. This place gets reeeeeally packed on the weekends, but grab a hot chocolate & frolic around while you wait. It's worth it! And one day I'll try one of their cookies... :)

I took my two boys (5&3) up for a hike and decided to try the Cookie Cabin for a little treat; we will not be back. First off, all the signage outside telling what you can and cannot do is extremely off-putting. They are not customer friendly and they certainly do not like kids. I found myself shushing my kids for mearly talking and I noticed another family doing the same. The cookie was huge but nothing spectacular in taste and the chili was just ok. Go up the road to the Iron Door. They have much better food and, unlike the Cookie Cabin, they appreciate your business.

Ugh! What an absolute bummer this place has turned out to be! We spent a lovely Sunday on the mountain with the kids and were all looking forward to a big, hot, gooey cookie to finish up the day. What we got instead was a hard, expensive, almost-stale hockey-puck type situation. The cookie wasn't even the worst part though. It was the (lack of) service. We waited in line a good 5 minutes beyond what we should have because the girl running the register was busy chatting with a friend who had come in. Not the biggest deal ever, but enough to set us off on the wrong foot. What's weird is, there were at least 3 other employees standing around doing nothing while we waited for her to finish her conversation. When we finally got to ordering, she puts the cookie down in front of us without offering any toppings...we had to ask. When it got to us, it was hard and not at all warm. My husband brought it back up to the counter and politely asked if it's supposed to be hot. He heard an employee mutter ("is he serious?"). He was told that it was warm when it came out of the heater, but now there's ice cream on it. He said yes, I understand that the part with ice cream won't be hot any longer, but the rest of it should at least be warm and not hard as a rock. They acted so annoyed by him that he gave up and the kids ate what they could. We weren't expecting perfection, but when you're paying $7+ for a cookie, you'd hope for a little better than this. We'll just bring up our own treats next time and save the money.

The Cookie Cabin hopes you do not come by. To save sanity and money, I suggest you get food, snacks, drinks, and goodies before you come up the mountain. There are lots of lovely picnic tables on the drive up and down, and plenty of places to use a toilet. Here's my blog post about how unwelcome we all are at The Cookie Cabin. brassflowers.com/posting…

This place is the quintessential tourist trap. The pizza is awful- it tastes like cardboard with tomatoe sauce. Adding insult to injury, it's expensive. By the way, you can't get a glass of water. You must buy their $2.50 water bottles. My recommendation is to pack a lunch next time you visit the mountain.

I am in love with Mount Lemmon, as anyone who knows me will tell you. So when I heard that there was something called a "cookie cabin" on it, I thought I had actually found heaven, and knew I had to try it immediately. I loved the environment surrounding the Cookie Cabin; it's everything that you would expect from a business atop Mt Lemmon. There are a bunch of small tables surrounding the cabin itself, whose deck overlooks more tables and a few picnic benches to accommodate for large parties. I was lucky enough to visit on a day where it was sunny with a few clouds here and there, a light breeze was blowing, and it was a perfect 80 degrees outside. Upon walking into the cabin, it was decorated with some old timey posters and what is perhaps the greatest sign I've ever seen of a bear holding cookies that said something along the lines of "the best diet is a cookie in each hand." Based on the environment alone, I would probably rate this place at like 4 stars. Because my friend and I visited on Labor Day weekend, we definitely walked in expecting to have to wait for a while. Because you order before you sit down, the line had stretched out to the deck and down the stairs. The wait itself wasn't too awful -probably about 20 mins- but it was awkward standing on the stairs, because we felt like we were getting in everyone's way. My friend and I ordered a 12 inch pizza with olives, mushrooms, and green bell peppers. The pizza was definitely better than I was expecting it to be, and the toppings were fresh. I especially liked that the bell peppers were sliced really thinly. As an added bonus, all toppings are included in the price of the pizza already. The crust of the pizza was top notch, and we had about half of the pizza left over. She had the peach cobbler, which comes with ice cream and whipped cream, and said that it was top-notch. Cooked fruit creeps me out, so I didn't have any of it, but considering the amount of cobbler she has consumed in her lifetime, I'd definitely take her word on it. I had a chocolate chip cookie, which in retrospect was very ambitious. The cookie was the size of my face. Actually. Unfortunately, it was only mediocre. It wasn't bad, but I feel like it's pretty hard to drastically screw up a standard chocolate chip cookie. It just wasn't great, which is what I was expecting from a place with "cookie" in its name. The prices were my main issue with this place. $15 for a 12-inch pizza seemed a little steep to me, but I was okay with it because that price included toppings, and it ended up being a pretty solid pizza. The desserts, on the other hand, were drastically overpriced. $6 for a mediocre cookie? Next time, I'll just buy a tub of Nestle Tollhouse dough and make them myself. My friend's cobbler was $11. What. How is that even a thing? I mean, it was a decent sized slice of cobbler (maybe about 4 x 3 inches), but $11 is ridiculous. We came in expecting it to be on the pricey side, considering they're on top of a mountain and thus are probably gonna jack up the prices a little bit. But I simply didn't think that any of the food was necessarily worth how much we paid for it. I've definitely had better pizza and cookies for significantly less.

This place is great! My family and I always enjoy a specialty pizza and 'monster cookie' after a long hike. The pizza is the best around ( including any moderate place in Tucson ). Think about it... You are on a mountain in the middle of the Sonoran desert-- The owners are nice people who provide great service and food for a reasonable price. Sit back, relax, and enjoy local hospitality in a small mountain town. For those who haven't been to Mount Lemmon, enjoy the quiet mountain ambiance and savor a nice, freshly made pizza and cookie!

Although I always get a cookie when I go up to Mount Lemmon I give the cookie cabin 3 stars. The cookies are cold and pre-made. Back before the fire they used to serve them hot, straight out of the oven, now they are made and they sit all day until you order. They are very generous on the portions of ice cream and toppings but you definitely pay for it. The prices are very high and the service is only decent. This is one of those businesses that only survives because it is the only one of its kind. Good Ice Cream. Eh service and attention to detail. Very $$$ for what you get.

Awesome delicious warm cookies. This is their forte. Fresh out of the oven and takes up a full plate. Choc chip, peanut butter, you can't go wrong really. Their pizza is just ok, about the same as say Fazolis. The BBQ chicken and bratwurst sandwich were a C+. But the greatest thing about it is it's location on top of the beautiful alpine forest of the Catalinas. When it's 100 degrees in Tucson and 75 up there, TV dinners would be good to me

The Cookie Cabin is a traditional log cabin, artfully crafted and shiny, nestled into the massive rock that is Mt Lemmon. The first thing my family noticed upon arrival were the signs "no running or yelling, that includes children" and the ever popular "unattended children will be given espresso and a free puppy." At least they're up front about it. And since we regularly travel with an infamously loud 18 month old we decided we should probably dine outside. And outside, in their courtyard, it's gorgeous. The pizza - perfect. The breakfast burrito - non-greasy, fully scrumptious. The cookies - are the size of the pizzas and completely excellent! They have a concoction of oatmeal, coconut and butterscotch chips that I believe they call "The Rachael". It should be called "Holy Smokes Amazeballs!" None none of it is cheap, yet all of it is worth it. I can't imagine returning to Mt. Lemmon to camp, to hike, to sight-see, etc, without stopping here. I'll gladly muzzle my children for more yummies.

Pizza and cookie are just ok at best. Was very dissapointed. I won't be back. On the good side the staff is great.

This is the cutest little place you'll ever go to find people who hated you before they met you. The cabin is covered inside and out with condescending signs with yellow writing on green. They hate kids, and had a slew of new signs hand written on cardboard about staying away from the fireplace on a cold winter day. We wondered about going upstairs, but it was closed off, we were told, so they wouldn't have to clean it unless it was so busy they needed the space. My kids went to look out the window after the owner walked out (incongruously wearing a Winnie the Pooh backpack) and she came back in to say she didn't want them to touch it. So, after spending $26 for four hot cocoas and two giant oatmeal raisin cookies which were the consistency of a bowl of oatmeal in the center, I got confirmation of what the the signs were trying to say: "We wish you had stayed home!" Its a perfect way to wreck a delightful day. So, if you like being made feeling resented and unwelcome, The Cookie Cabin is ready to oblige. Tip: if you aren't seeking The Nazi Cabin, bring your own cookies to Summerhaven.

I will have to say I am a fan of this place. The Cookies are huge and yummy. The cobbler are awesome and feed an army. OK, they feed 2 or 3 depending on how hungry you are. Some friends of mine like their Pizzas and Chili. I will say you do not walk out of this place hungry. Being a non-coffee drinker I cannot only say my friends really liked their coffees. They offer 2 parking spaces - One is Handicap accessible and the other is next to it.. Be careful Summerhaven requires when you park on the street you vehicle cannot be on the street. You have to be completely off the pavement. 3/19/2014 - An update - It looks like they have changed from creating small pizzas to pizza slices. They still have the 12" and 16" pizzas.

I visited the Mt Lemmon Cookie Cabin on a slow and quiet day in late February with a couple of good friends. No other businesses on Mt. Lemmon were open except the General Store, so we decided to stop by the Cookie Cabin to check it out. The first thing you will notice is all the signs posted with rules and other information. Most of the signage seemed very rude and condescending, certainly not welcoming, and it continues inside. As we entered the Cookie Cabin one of the employees immediately shouted to us "THE PIZZA OVEN IS CLOSED" ,which we already knew from one of the many signs outside, so we each ordered a drink. The coffee was decent and the spiced cider was very good but it couldn't make up for how rude and unwelcoming this place is. As we were leaving one of my friends asked why the pizza oven closes early (just curious) and the response was just as rude as the signs decorating the Cookie Cabin. The lady employee proceeded to go on what could only be described as a furious rant about how people from "down in the valley" don't understand how things operate on top of the mountain. My other friend and I were shocked by her response that lasted several minutes. Overall the experience was terrible and we let all of our friends "down in the valley" know how we were treated. I wish I could review some of the food but I doubt I'll ever return to the Cookie Cabin.

Almost every time we go for a ride up the mountain we stop at the cookie cabin. I remember what time it started raining on us a few miles from the cookie cabin and we parked the bikes and ran inside to get out of the rain. Well we all ordered our pizzas, which are good. Mine seemed to take extra long and I questioned the lady a couple times on the status of my pizza. After a bit she discovered that they actually forgot to make mine and promptly made a new one for me. On top of them she gave us two cookies on the house, one chocolate chip and one lemon. That was a sign of good customer service, I have to say that the lemon sugar cookie was outstanding, of course the chocolate chip was good as well. I enjoy this place and I always enjoy eating outside on their patio area. Overall it is a nice place to eat and visit if you are up there, but I do not think it would be worth the trip up the mountain solely to eat there.

I have always loved this place!!! For as long as I remember going up to Summerhaven I had to stop and get a cookie from the cookie cabin with an ice cold glass of milk. This last time I shared a thing of chili with a friend and a chocolate chip cookie with my daughter. We also had a hot chocolate. Positive: the best cookie I have ever had, cookies straight from the oven, ice cold milk, chili had the perfect amount of spice, hot chocolate was made for my daughter so they added some cold milk to cool off the hot chocolate (I thought this was so considerate of the staff!), friendly staff Negative: very busy on the weekends (at least when ever I have gone, making it hard to find a table), not cheap at all

Unfortunately I cannot comment on the cookies. Why? Because they didn't have any when I was there. How can a place that calls itself the Mt. Lemmon Cookie Cabin not have cookies? The girl running the register said it would be a 20 minute wait, 5 or so for the oven to heat up and 15 or so for the cookies to bake. Wait, the oven isn't on?! Who runs this place?! I worked at a bagel store/bakery once. When we started running low on product we baked more - yes it can be difficult to judge how many more customers will be coming in and how many cookies to bake, but if there's an hour left in the day and no cookies available there should be some in the oven. I opted out of food/drink. My boyfriend got the strawberry/rhubarb cobbler. Meh. For $7 I would hope for a buttery rich crust and delicious filling, but their crust was oatmeal-based and the filling was too thick (corn syrup-y?). When my boyfriend ordered he asked for the strawberry/rhubarb cobbler, no ice cream or whipped cream. The girl repeat the order back as triple berry cobbler with ice cream and whipped cream on the side. Are you listening?! The coffee wasn't great and was served in a giant syrofoam cup. Said styrofoam cups could be found scattered around Summerhaven and in the creek. Lovely. It is a serious shame that the pie place closed, because now the cookie cabin has a monopoly on baked goodies in Summerhaven. Perhaps I'll try them again, maybe the cookies are worth it.

My best friend & I ventured up the mountain in June 2011 to escape the summer heat. Because of the extreme fire hazards every turnout along the way was closed but we didn't mind - we were just looking forward to the cooler temps & to having a joyous time together. When we arrived at Summerhaven we went inside the Cookie Cabin and purchased something to drink from the friendly staff. We found a table and sat down under a beautiful tree and began to chat. After a short time I went inside & purchased a $7 pizza which was nothing special - quite small for the money but that was okay with me. We got lost in conversation & eating and enjoying the cool breeze when I noticed an older man standing just outside the truck he had parked - staring at us. Just as my gaze met his - he hollered in a very accusatory tone, "Are you all just picknicking or did you buy something?" I couldn't believe my ears. I hadn't been spoken to in this manner since my verbally abusive father was in my life some fifty years ago! In that moment our joyful time together was over. How could we stay after having been treated this way. After an exchange of words - I learned that he was the owner! He never apologized & in fact when I told him how offended I was that he treated us this way - he told us to leave! Don't go there. He doesn't deserve your money. If you do go - be prepared for a possible inquisition...

Wow! The pizza here is sooo worth the drive up the mountain from Tucson. We were on vacation and a friend said there is a little place that sells pizza. We caught it just before it closed and had a 12 inch between 2 which is mote than enough. The crust was THE best and the toppings were just right. Service is friendly and local. Giant cookies are also sold here - did not have one but people were all making yummy sounds!

So disappointed that the old cabins and cookies was replaced by this sorry excuse for a business. We just moved back to Tucson after several years and have gone up a couple times to Summerhaven. But it's not the friendly laid back place it used to be at all. We went hiking the other day and stopped in to get a bite to eat at this place and ended up throwing the food in the garbage. We ordered 3 breakfast burritos and were told it would take 20 minutes. We were NOT told it would be 20 minutes per burrito! The signs out front were not friendly and the crusty woman doing the "cooking" was not friendly either! I know these people think they are special for some reason because they are up on a mountain somewhere in Arizona but if they were anywhere else they'd be out of business in a week. Don't waste your time or money. Go on over to the restaurant at the ski slope! I don't even want to use 1 star to post this!

Mmmmm, cookies. There was a bit of a problem with my party of 2 - we only wanted one cookie but couldn't agree on which one. To complicate matters I wanted to try at least 4 different flavors. Of course, none of those flavors were ones that the other half wanted to try. A common situation for this duo which usually results in one of us having to cave. But what's this on the menu? A cookie sampler! One giant cookie crafted from dough from every cookie flavor they have. The perfect answer to our cookie dilemma. They were all out but said they would be happy to make us one if we didn't mind waiting about 15 minutes. Soon a piping hot, gooey, scrumptious cookie was set before us. I tasted a piece of each kind, and then another piece of each kind and then another...you get the idea. Feeling guilty about eating the whole thing in one sitting, I wrapped up the rest to take home and then promptly ate it once we got back in the car. Pure awesomeness!

Well, the cookie is $5, but it's also the size of a frisbee. The texture is perfect--a little crispy on the surface, but warm and gooey inside. I tried the oatmeal raisin and the flavor was okay, light on the spices but way too heavy on the sugar. An entertaining gimmick, but not worth a detour. If you do go, bring everybody a few extra shots of insulin.

I am going up to the cookie cabin for the 3rd time for a friends birthday, but this time I am having to go gluten free as I have celiacs disease. I called the cookie cabin and they were more than willing to work with my crust I am bringing in even though it is going to be the holiday weekend and they will be crazy busy. This was out of their way for them and they are very kindly taking the extra step. I am so impressed with them right now. Not only is their food delicious, but they are being awesome about my gluten intolerance as well.

Such a great place ! The pizza and cookies are delicious ! The only problem are the long lines and long wait. I suggest they have a cashier and someone else getting the drinks. I think that would make the wait go a little faster. The time I went, the cashier was busy taking orders as well as running around getting drinks. If she had some help it might make it go smoother.

I adore this place. It's fun and interesting and totally worth the experience. The cookies are too rich to eat alone so its perfect for a group. The pizza is thick and cheesy and pretty yummy. Again you may be hungry due to hiking and I really do believe everything taste better when you are hungry! The ambiance is fun and definitely worth taking friends and family who are visiting to Tucson to come see this treat. Great walks around this area as well for the not so seasoned hiker. Also you will escape the Tucson heat. Really busy on the weekends so I prefer to go during the week when possible. I will be honest, I pretty much love it

Nice people and a welcoming place to stop. Giant cookies with some nice variety. Very fresh and you could taste the quality ingredients. The owners helped us find a treat for my little boy with food allergies; I think she was just as happy as he was to discover the fresh berry fruit crisp would work for him. The chili smelled delicious and i'm sure that we will be returning soon for more than cookies and hot drinks.

Mehhh... I've had better (I can also bake one better too). I give the five dollar chocolate chip cookie I had one star and the location five stars. If you know me then you also know I don't pass up a freaking cookie, in this case I did. Although if you think bigger is better this place is for you! Worth it to play along though because the drive and view at the top of Mt. Lemon is one of a kind!

Eek. I should preface this review by saying we didn't stay for the cookie. After driving up Mt. Lemmon, I really wanted a hot chocolate and cookie, so it really killed me that it just didn't seem like a good fit for us. The place looked cute, so we were hopeful! Be prepared for a $7 (!!!) cookie and $10 (!!!) cobbler. Still not entirely turned off, we decided to look at the cookies and see if it'd be worth it. Instead of a really fresh, good quality cookie, we saw a huge mess of stuff on top, which might be nice for sugar-loving kids, but when it's cold out and you just want a cookie, is not what you want to see. To be fair, the cobbler looked good, we just couldn't bring ourselves to pay $10 for a piece of cobbler in a crowded, loud, cabin. The final straw for us was the line. Even though there were only 4 people in front of us, it took the people at the counter over 5 minutes to take the first person's order, and another few minutes to get sodas. Since it was obvious this was not an efficient operation and we weren't willing to wait 20 minutes to order a pimped-out, overpriced sweet at an obvious tourist trap, we just left.

While the cookies and pizza are good (albeit vastly overpriced), I was disgusted by an inherently racist picture displayed on the wall inside the cabin about an all-black baseball team. When I saw the picture, proudly displayed inside the cabin that coincidentally had no African American customers, I was so shocked and disgusted that I decided to take my business elsewhere. Not only is it crazy to me that racism can still exist in 2012, but it is appalling that a business can so proudly display their archaic and discriminatory views for everyone to see. Save your money and go somewhere more accepting.

We have enjoyed the food and atmosphere here several times. Our complaint is the rule signage out front, which likely reflects an owner who doesn't like children or good times. Seriously, it's unnecessary signage that tarnishes their business more than it helps. I wish the owner would examine this signage from the customer's perspective. Well anyway, the cookies and pizza are fine. No complaints there.

My husband and I went there for a treat and some hot chocolate. All I can say is, bring a couple friends. These things were HUGE! Their hot chocolate was great and very warming. The atmosphere was inviting and cozy.

I went up to Summerhaven to get away from the heat in Tucson. On top of it being 30 degrees cooler I found a little restaurant that runs out of a cabin! It looked like something you would find in Disneyland, and Grandma herself was in the kitchen with her granddaughters (I assume) making our pizza! It is an awesome little family establishment on top of the mountain! Great food, great service, and a beautiful environment!

I know some people said they got bad vibes. Not the case for me, the girl at the cash register was very friendly and patient. We got the cookie sampler, not really that expensive for how huge the cookie is and it is HUGE. The whole area smelled the cookies!

  • Niki T.

    (1)

Pizza was gross. Sauce had no flavor and cheese was fake. Cardboard crust. They could have a gold mine if they made the doh and sauce homemade with better cheese and toppings. Not sure about cookie.

Gross pizza, great cookies. Pizza tastes worse than any frozen pizza from the supermarket. Really bad. The cookies are good but the brownie one was dry. Chocolate chip one was gooey and good. Save your money on the really overpriced pizza.

Nasty, the pizza was horrible, we ordered the pepperoni pizza. I could have microwaved a better pizza. It even smelled odd, it was bland and gross.

Out of cookies and pizza. Horrid customer service. If you wait on people, smile. If not, get a desk job.

Fantastic pizza and cookies. The cookies are almost as big as the pizzas, which are not small. Beautiful patio area

I've never tried the pizza but the cookies are a must have after a bike ride up the hill. I look forward to them every time I go down to Tucson. Great home feeling place as well.

Visited here over Thanksgiving weekend ... super nice staff and nice facilities. I shared the sugar cookie with my mom & dad and we all got some hot cocoa & coffee. $5 for a cookie is worth it because it's HUGE and we probably could have split with 4. It was a nice treat on a cool day :)

Love the Cookie Cabin! We visit every time we drive up to Summerhaven. I've never tried the pizza, but the cookies are good, and they're the size of your face! I share it with my husband, and then we end up taking some with us too. Their patio is a nice place to sit outside and enjoy the fresh mountain air.
